For whom
Who is psychotherapy for, and when it can help.
When can psychotherapy help?
You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis situation to seek psychotherapy. Therapy may suit you when
- there is something in your life that repeatedly weighs on you and does not ease on its own
- you want to understand yourself better
- you are in a transitional phase in life (moving, separation, loss of a loved one, new job)
- you sense that some experience from childhood or earlier life is still having an effect
- you want to practise new ways of being in relationships
- you are wrestling with questions of identity, culture or belonging
Particular areas of expertise
- Anxiety and depression
- Questions of identity and culture
- Specific Sámi-related questions (cultural safety, intergenerational trauma, residential school experiences)
- Life transitions and crises
- Challenges in working life and coping
- Expertise drawn from a background as a registered nurse in mental health and substance abuse work
When am I not the right therapist?
I recommend other help if
- you need acute crisis services (call the crisis helpline 09 2525 0111 or 112)
- you need medical care (I will refer you to cooperate with healthcare services)
- you are looking for couples or family therapy (I do not offer these services)
- you need psychotherapy for children or adolescents
- your experience or situation requires specialised expertise that I do not have (e.g. eating disorders, severe trauma background)
