Kela rehabilitation psychotherapy

Long-term, partly Kela-funded psychotherapy

Kela rehabilitation psychotherapy is long-term psychotherapy supported by Kela (the Finnish Social Insurance Institution). It is designed to help you continue studying or working and to support your recovery and functional ability.

Who is it for?

Rehabilitation psychotherapy is intended for people aged 16–67 whose ability to work or study is at risk due to a mental health condition. You need a psychiatrist’s statement and a Kela rehabilitation decision before the therapy can begin.

How to apply

  • Psychiatric assessment and a minimum of three months of active treatment before applying
  • Psychiatrist writes a B-statement (lääkärinlausunto B)
  • You submit the application to Kela
  • Once the decision is granted, therapy can begin

Length and frequency

Kela rehabilitation psychotherapy is granted for one year at a time, for a maximum of three years. Sessions are typically weekly.
